NINJA TURTLE RELEASES TELL-ALL BOOK

Original Ninja Turtle Movie Performer Reveals Bizarre Working Conditions and Crazy Behind-the-Scenes Stories

Fort Worth, TX – October 15, 2019 –

Oxygen tanks, nose bleeds, and sheer exhaustion were part of everyday life for Kenn Scott and other performers in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films of the 1990s. Now, as the original 1990 film reaches its 30th anniversary, in March of 2020, Scott, who portrayed the character of ‘Raphael’ in the first two films, has written a tell-all book that shares his incredible journey to become a Ninja Turtle, and candid behind-the-scenes stories of the challenging working conditions and demands of the films’ productions. The book is titled Teenage Ninja to Mutant Turtle: Becoming the Reel Raphael and will be available on Amazon and through other outlets in ebook and paperback form. 10% of all proceeds from the book will benefit the Sea Turtle Conservancy, the oldest and most renowned turtle conservation society in the world.

Few know the New York-based films were actually shot in Wilmington, North Carolina, at an independent film studio by the beach. It was there, fresh out of college at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, that local actor Kenn Scott got a job as an extra on the original film. Then, through hard work and luck, he found himself taking over for an injured stuntman and becoming the new Raphael. Subject to the same challenging working conditions as his predecessor, Scott and the other turtle performers spent their time performing grueling action routines, fighting injuries, battling heat exhaustion, and dueling with producers’ pocketbooks.

Using humor and insights from 20 years in the film and television business, Scott educates and entertains readers with a unique story of breaking into the Hollywood system and dealing with the challenges of playing a reptilian crime fighter in the most successful independent film of its time.

Readers learn:

• How the Jim Henson organization designed and created the cutting edge technology for the turtle costumes

• How the world famous franchise made it from an idea two guys had on a couch to the silver screen

• How actors had to bond together to stand up to producers’ demanding schedules

• How Vanilla Ice couldn’t remember the words to his own song

The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films were produced in 1990-1991 by Golden Harvest Productions from Hong Kong, the company that produced all of Bruce Lee’s original films. The first film debuted in March of 1990
